Default Extra storage - penny for your thoughts

Ok, Im quite happy for the extra storage for all my materials, I like the layout, got no problem paying the 50gold to activate it... but pray tell, why on earth do we have to activate for each character we play?? And for those of us still in Tyria that own factions, how come there is no upgrade agent? (Or did I just miss her?)

Because we had to pay 50 g with each of our characters for the normal access as well.

Because it's only for Factions buyers.

In their infinite wisdom (read: lust for cash and an effort to force Prophecies players to buy Factions), ANet have made it so that the storage expansion is only available to players who own Factions.

Which I find a little rude, how come phrophecies players are excluded? seems a little unreasonable

It's better than nothing but it's another example of saying one thing and doing another (please don't split hairs over how 50g is nothing. It is something, and that's not what was said)

Also, still hoping for storage for event items and other collectable stuff. Most people probably have several stacks of the common materials e.g. wood, iron, cloth etc. so while it helps free up one stack maybe, most who have materials still have a lot of the same material stored on their characters.

It is, and it's the srource of most of the complaints, even from people who own Factions. A new feature was added to Factions only owners after they said features would be regardless of how many expansions you own, they they said to everyone complaining that we don't know what we are talking about. Lie and insult the community. Winnar.

There's a developer interview where he mentions storage (along with reconnects, improved trading etc etc) as being features and therefore, enabled for all.

Look for reconnects to enabled for Chapter 3 people only and auction houses for Chapter 4 and so on and so on...

Well, I'm grateful for the extra storage, although it's a little frustrating that there's empty slots for things like Elonian Leather and Spiritwood Planks, whilst I've got stacks and stacks of Iron Ingots and Tanned Hides etc still clogging up my other storage tab.

I'm not surprised or particularly bothered that each character has to pay (a minimal amount) to upgrade - expected that. I am surprised that it's not been included for Prophecies though.

I quite like playing 'storage bingo' now - I'm nowhere near a 'full house', but I just need a Sapphire and a Bolt of Damask to complete the middle column - woo!

Maybe Anet's calculation went wrong somewhere along the way. Maybe NCSoft is trying to squeeze the last penny out of Anet (and us). Who really knows? Who wants to know?

What I see is a great game that comes without monthly fees and I would like Guild Wars to stay this way. A broken "promise" or two along the way do not hurt me as bad as monthly fees would.

The financing scheme of Guild Wars: People who buy the new chapters are paying the maintenance/bandwidth/upkeep costs for themselves AND the buyers of old chapters. Sooner or later Anet has to find ways to generate income from existing accounts and make new chapters more attractive. Purchasable character slots and material storage are indicators that Anet is going this way. I will go along with Anet, regardless of what has been "mentioned in some interview with some dev".

Lies and insults? A bit harsh, I think. Think of it more like a miscalculation that has been corrected and be glad that it has been corrected while the child was still alive and healthy.

You don't have to buy the extra storage for more than one char, it's your choice.

Really now, everything here has already been dicussed time and time again in other threads.

While I'm sure its unfair that only Factions owners can get the new storage (As there is no Storage reps in Tyria), it was stated at the beginning that was going to be the case.

Also while a.net did say it was free 50g is nothing, you can get 50g within 10 secs by kill one or two mobs

As for the type and size of the storage? Well it allows me to storage items I normally wouldn't be able to, and has freed up space for me, so I'd call this new storage a complete success.

Love the extra storage. I have storage space for the first time since I started playing.

Paying 50g per char is fine with me and I really like the look of the new storage too, just a shame Prophecies hasn't got the feature. I play a car over there and would have really liked a little more room, but hey, maybe in time they will implement it - I mean the technology is there right? So... maybe... 'hint hint' it'll happen.

And I mean char not car

it would have been better if there was additional tab to keep festival items like dragon mask tengu mask etc

I was a little suprised by the pay-per-character. but no biggy, 50gold is nothing.

As for its actual usefullness... well, I never really used storage for materials, but I have found that I have some shards to go in, so thats one space saved!

Ive gone around and pooled together materials from other characters..so ive saved some space on some of the characters. But thats a bit pointless because when your out adventuring the spaces are immeditaly taken up again as you salavage!

So I guess overall Its given me some more temporary space, and one or two slots freed up in the storage.

so for me, as I expected its made very little difference. We now we need a dye storage, a key storage and Scrolls Storage then I may start having the space I need.

Almost happy with what we got... wish there would be tabs for Holiday Items and Armors. Otherwise this freed up 10 slots for me.
